Brief Artist’s Biography

Jack Woods is a marine artist specializing in paintings of classic yachts and particularly the smaller traditional yachts that ventured over long distances or to remote parts of the world.

Member of:  Australian Guild of Realist Artists (AGRA)

                     Australian Society of Marine Artists(ASMA)

                     International Society of Marine Painters(ISMP)

Jack has been actively painting in both oils and acrylics for over 20 years with a primary focus on seascapes and the nautical scene with a particular emphasis on the traditional sailing craft of the bye-gone era as well as paintings of local craft and maritime subjects.

His specific interest is the small yachts that were sailed solo or with a small crew and cruised long distances or to remote areas of the world.  His paintings of these earlier yachts are carefully researched to ensure historical accuracy and are of particular relevance to collectors who have a knowledge of these adventurous sailors.

His paintings are primarily exhibited at the Australian Guild of Realist Artists gallery, the Victorian Art Society’s annual maritime exhibitions, and the Mission to Seafarer’s ANL exhibitions as well as on his website.
