I am just seeing the whole process as full of paradox and irony; the way we treat our environment and landscape ie tearing at it, digging it up, abusing it in so many different ways, is the way I tend to create it on the canvas, hopefully making something appealing and attractive as opposed to the ugliness of an open cut mine for example or the devastation required to make a new suburb. I don't think there is much profundity in this observation just a way of seeing the process.
All I try to keep creating in my work is what I see in our incredible environment; lots of space, a sense of isolation, timelessness, peacefulness, stillness.
I must say that for me the magic can simply be in the palette, as strongly as a sound in some music can send shivers down my spine....we all love a beautiful sunset. Concepts are not my thing.... Long live the heart.
